Tree Lover’s Guide to Earth Month

Tree planting season may be over, but there are plenty of other ways to support Charlotte’s urban forest during Earth Month! Here are our top 10 ways to stay involved throughout April:

1. TreeFest

Celebrate Earth Month and Arbor Day with us at our 3rd Annual TreeFest at NoDa Brewing on April 26 from 2-5pm!

2. Remove Invasives

Invasive vines are killing native trees. Learn how to identify, remove, and replace them here.

3. Make a pollinator garden

Create a porch pollinator garden with native wildflowers! This is house and apartment friendly, learn how to here

5. Come see us at Charlotte Earth Day

Visit us at Charlotte Earth Day on Saturday, April 12 from 12-4pm at Independent Picture House.

6. Sign up for the Elizabeth 8k

Run the Elizabeth 8k! As a race beneficiary, we receive a portion of the proceeds. Not up for running? Volunteer as an eco-warrior to keep the race clean and green.

7. Donate 1-gallon pots

We need 1-gallon pots for our seedlings. If you’ve accumulated any from spring-time gardening, email us at info@treescharlotte.org.


8. Re-mulch your trees

Now is the perfect time to re-mulch your trees! You can get sustainable mulch from Mecklenburg County here.


9. Support Bill 369

Sign Catawba Riverkeeper’s petition & support the Parking Lot Reform and Modernization Act, which aims to reduce runoff and flooding as a result of impervious surfaces in parking lots.
