TreesCharlotte purchases our trees from three NC growers, and we rely on your generosity to continue providing trees throughout Mecklenburg County. Please consider donating if you are able.

2025-2026 Season TreeAdoptions

About our TreeAdoptions

Registration:

    • Registration is required and typically opens 5-7 days before the event.

    • Each registration requires a unique name, address and email address. Registrants using the same contact details for multiple registrations will be canceled.
      • Please double-check that your email address is entered correctly when registering. All event confirmations and pre-event details will be sent to the email you provide.

    • Each registration is limited to 2 trees. While the registration form does not limit the total number of trees, registrations requesting more than 2 trees will be canceled.

    • Registrations are limited to Mecklenburg County residents only. Registered addresses outside of the Mecklenburg County will be automatically canceled.

    • The list of trees on each adoption event page are expected from our growers. In case they are not of the quality we demand, we reserve the right to substitute with a similar species.

    • Reselling TreesCharlotte trees or using them for profit is prohibited and will result in a ban from future TreesCharlotte events and adoptions.

    • All attendees are required to go through a planting demonstration at the adoption. This is a requirement for all participants, even if you have adopted trees or planted trees with us previously.

    • Upon arrival, plan for at least 45 minutes to receive your trees.

    • If you are picking up trees on behalf of a neighbor or friend, bring a copy of their registration with you to the event.
    • Any Mecklenburg residents who have previously adopted more than 20 trees through our TreeAdoption events are no longer eligible to participate.

Day-Of Event:

    • All attendees are required to go through a planting demonstration at the adoption to ensure the health and longevity of our trees. This is a requirement for all participants, even if you have adopted trees or planted with us previously.

    • Upon arrival, plan for at least 45 minutes to receive your trees.

    • Trees come in containers ranging up to 7-gallons in size, measure up to 10′ tall, and can weigh up to 20 pounds.

    • Before arriving, please clear space in your vehicle to accommodate the trees and mulch. Volunteers will be on hand to assist in loading your trees.

    • Soil from the container may spill out while the trees are being loaded in your vehicle. We recommend bringing trash bags or tarp.

    • You will receive a pre-event email shortly before the adoption with a full list of day-of logistics, including where to park and event flow.

We have expanded to Mecklenburg County!

This season, we are serving all residents in Mecklenburg County, not just the City of Charlotte. We encourage you to check the dates above and to follow our events calendar. At this time, we cannot accommodate tree adoption or planting requests outside of Mecklenburg County.
