Over the last three years, Charlotte has seen a drastic reduction in the fall cankerworm population. There are many theories from entomologists as to why, but the fact is no one is really sure what happened to them!
Still, for those of you that put bands on your trees this winter, they should be removed by the end of April. If bands are left on, moisture behind the band may weaken the trunk, allowing insects easier access to the tree.
If you see trees in the right–of–way that still have bands on, please call Landscape Management at 704-336-4262 to report them.
