Gift of Trees: The Kindness Rocks story

Hurricane Florence and Tropical Storm Michael made for very busy days at the city of Charlotte’s Landscape Management division, which houses the city arborist staff, urban forestry and TreesCharlotte. If a tree falls on a city street, it’s Landscape Management that gets the call for service. Recently, assistant city manager Kim Eagle reported out some interesting numbers in the wake of Hurricane Florence and Tropical Storm Michael:

  • 525: Florence storm responses, third most impactful storm in history
  • 422: Michael storm responses
  • 947: Total calls for service between the two storms
  • The city has had more emergency storm requests in 3 ½ months of FY19 (approaching 1700) than the total for all of FY18

The above map shows all the calls for service from the two recent storms.
