Community Orchard at Reeder Memorial Baptist Church

October 6, 2018, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

TreesCharlotte is partnering with Mecklenburg County Health Department, Reeder Memorial Baptist Church, and NC Cooperative Extension to plant 28 fruit trees in Northeast Charlotte.

The purpose of the initiative is to develop an urban orchard in an effort to increase access and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables for residents in the Beatties Ford Road Corridor of Mecklenburg County.  Fruit trees will be planted and harvested by Reeder Memorial Baptist Church parishioners and residents of communities surrounding the church. Food will be distributed according to criteria which is still being developed. Ultimately, the program could be used as a template for other faith-based organizations to begin similar initiatives.

We love our volunteers, however, general volunteers are not needed for this event.  Please check the events calendar for other volunteer opportunities.

We are looking for 2 experienced TreeMasters that are comfortable taking a more active role in organizing, setting up and managing volunteers before and during the event.
