30th Annual Elizabeth 8K Road Race

March 19, 2016, 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM

girl-and-trees-truck-bedTreesCharlotte will host a small TreeStore after the race, giving away 7 gallon sized, 6-10′ tall trees to the residents of Elizabeth.  We cannot guarantee species type or quantities.  You will be trained on how to properly plant and care for your tree(s).  Tree training is mandatory.  You will then be asked to complete and sign a Stewardship Pledge Form with your home  and email address (mandatory) and declare your pledge to take care of the tree(s) we provide. Trees are available on a first come, first served basis as quantities are limited.

The Elizabeth 8K Road Race is Charlotte’s oldest road race and features a USATF-certified course (certificate # NC15016DF) and a fantastic tour of the scenic residential streets of the Elizabeth neighborhood.

The event, which begins at Hawthorne Recreation Center at Independence Park (345 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte NC, 28204), also includes a 1.5M untimed run/walk for the casual participants and youth runners and the Liz Kids’ Fun Run for the little ones. Participants will enjoy Elizabeth 8K racing shirts (while supplies last), post-race refreshments and beer, live music from School of Rock, and even our very own Elvis, a.k.a., the Big E! Proceeds benefit the beautification of the Historic Elizabeth Neighborhood and the replenishing of both Charlotte and Elizabeth’s tree canopies.
