October is Charlotte Tree Month! Join us in celebrating all trees bring: shade, wildlife habitats, safer streets, cleaner air, mental and physical health benefits, and more by donating, volunteering, and following our calendar of action!
- Wednesday, October 1: Check out our Tree Month Supporters! If you’re around town and see a Tree Month banner or poster at a local business, take a picture and tag us on Instagram or Facebook!
- Thursday, October 2: Help us map trees at Historic Hoskins to get a running inventory. Register online here.
- Friday, October 3: Live in Crescent (28206,28208, 28213, 28214, 28216) zip codes? Get FREE TREES with us! Registration opens sharply at 10am on Friday, October 3rd to attend the Crescent TreeAdoption on Saturday, October 11 from 8:00 – 11:30 am. Live somewhere else in Meck County? - Saturday, October 4: We will be planting 217 trees at the Regency at Palisades! Learn more information and register to volunteer here.
- Sunday, October 5: Since 2012, we have planted and distributed 66,482 trees, engaged 36,335 residents and volunteers, and hosted 651 events. Support our mission to continue this work by donating now!
- Monday, October 6: Collect a rainbow of leaves! Check out our social media challenge later today to learn more! Visit our Instagram or Facebook (and drop a follow if you haven’t already!).
- Tuesday, October 7: Did you know mulch is one of the best things for your tree’s health? Learn how to properly mulch with our quick guide.
- Wednesday, October 8: Do you love the idea of speaking on behalf of Charlotte’s trees at tabling events? Learn how you can become a TreeAmbassador volunteer and share your enthusiasm for our urban canopy.
- Thursday, October 9: We will be planting 35 trees at Veteran’s park with two of our planting season sponsors. To find out how to get your business or workplace involved in our plantings, visit our corporate support page!
- Friday, October 10: Put your rake away and leave the leaves this year.
- Saturday, October 11: Visit our Bur Oak Treasure Tree. Learn more about its history from Queen City News!
- Sunday, October 12: Speak for the Trees by becoming a TreeSpeaker!
- Monday, October 13: Can’t volunteer this season? You can still help us buy planting and education supplies on our Amazon Wish List.
- Tuesday, October 14: Join our TreeWalk tonight at Eva Barber Park from 6 – 7pm! Learn more about the trees around you through tree ID, stories, and local lore! We will be partnering with Black Girl Environmentalist and Woven Wellness for this event as well. Register here.
- Wednesday, October 15: Have you seen a large tree in Meck County? Nominations for our Treasure Tree program are now open!
- Thursday, October 16: Are you watering your tree?? Make a plan to water it today if it’s needed!
- Friday, October 17: We’re planting 60 trees at Sharon South Homes with Midrex Technologies for their company anniversary! If your company is interested in funding a planting for an upcoming milestone, team building opportunity, or to simply give back to the community, learn how to get involved here, or email our Development Director, Beth Brodie, for more details!
- Saturday, October 18: Help us finish mapping trees at Historic Hoskins! Register here.
- Sunday, October 19: Can’t plant a tree? Save one. Learn how to identify and remove invasive vines around you with our ivy and vine guide.
- Monday, October 20: Visit our stunning Black Walnut Treasure Tree. Its walnuts should be dropping around now, just be careful not to stain your hands with their potent dye!
- Tuesday, October 21: Love helping trees this month? Support trees beyond October by becoming a recurring monthly donor.
- Wednesday, October 22: Learn how you can gift a tree in honor or memory of somebody with our TreeGift program.
- Thursday, October 23: Help us care for trees at Brookhill Apartments from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Registration is required, sign up here!
- Friday, October 24: Want to see the world like a forester? Learn to ID trees with the PictureThis app.
- Saturday, October 25: Come out to support us at Gear Goat Xchg! We will receive a percentage back from all sales this day, and it’s a great place to get reused outdoor clothes for all your tree-planting needs!
- Sunday, October 26: Our Sycamore Treasure Tree is in the middle of the scenic Latta Park—and also right beside our newly planted trees! Visit it and tag us in a picture on either Instagram or Facebook!
- Monday, October 27: If you haven’t given this month, please donate today!
- Tuesday, October 28: Build community while growing community by joining our TreeMaster program.
- Wednesday, October 29: Learn to prune trees while volunteering—become a TreeKeeper!

Thursday, October 30: Did you know that TreesCharlotte plants along our county’s greenways? Today, we’re planting trees at Long Creek Greenway. Take a stroll down your favorite greenway to spot TreesCharlotte trees growing happily and follow our events calendar for volunteer opportunities.
