Tonight’s Special Guest: Dr. Mary Stewart 

Dr. Mary Stewart is a multidisciplinary artist and educator whose work spans more than five decades, featuring prints, paintings, mixed media, and conceptual visual storytelling. Her portfolio reflects a deep interest in themes of knowledge, memory, perception, and human experience, often explored through layered imagery and experimental formats. In addition to her artistic practice, Stewart has had a distinguished career in art education and curriculum development, including leadership roles in university-level foundations programs. She is also the author of Launching the Imagination, a widely used design textbook for art and design students. Through both her artwork and teaching, Stewart has focused on encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and visual exploration.

Join Urban Forest Educator and Arborist, Heather Brent, along with an exciting lineup of local experts, for TreesCharlotte’s new virtual summer speaker series, Between Two Oaks. Each session dives into a unique tree-inspired topic, blending science, art, history, and ecology while exploring fresh perspectives on Charlotte’s urban forest and beyond.

Every event kicks off with an introduction from Heather Brent, followed by a presentation from the featured guest speaker, and a live audience Q&A. Registered participants will receive a virtual access link within 24 hours of each event. Whether you’re a lifelong arbor enthusiast or just tree-curious, this series promises thoughtful conversations, surprising insights, and a deeper appreciation for the roots of our urban landscape.
