Trees + Chili = Perfect Meal!

Know what tastes good with trees? Chili! The Kiwanis of Charlotte are hosting Kiwanis Under the Canopy, a chili cook-off with proceeds going to both TreesCharlotte education programming in CMS schools and Charlotte Kiwanis Club to serve under privileged children in our community. The competition will run in conjunction with TreesCharlotte’s first store of the year, Breathe Free CLT Tree Store (sponsored by Novant Health) on Saturday, Oct. 6., 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Camp Northend, 1824 Statesville Ave.

Members of the public are invited to attend for $5 day-of tickets and can sample chilis from all the teams. WCNC Meteorologist Brad Panovich will emcee, and the Music Machine will provide tunes.

Want to compete in the cook-off and help support TreesCharlotte? Here’s what you need to know:

  • All teams will be provided a gas stove, tables, chairs, tablecloths, chili ties, event caps and aprons
  • Two competitions: Celebrity Judging and Peoples Choice Awards
  • Chili must be pre-cooked
  • Team registration is $45
  • Cili teams to arrive at 8:00am

To buy tickets to attend or to sign up as a team, please register here.
