February 2021 Tree of the Month: Redbud

We’re sad to share that Executive Director Chuck Cole is retiring (more on Chuck and what’s next for him in a later post), so we are in the hunt for a new leader. Coleman Lew Canny Bowen, an executive search firm, has been retained to conduct the search. Here’s a brief description of the role, its responsibilities and how to apply:

TreesCharlotte works to support the City of Charlotte’s tree canopy coverage goals, to encourage city-wide acceptance of responsibility to plant and care for trees, and to sustain funding to continue the mission generation to generation. Since its creation in 2012, TreesCharlotte has planted or given away almost 40,000 containerized trees, engaged more than 21,000 volunteers, stewarded thousands of trees already planted at previous events, educated thousands of local students and residents about tree care and tree benefits, and helped establish and expand partnerships with numerous corporate sponsors.

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and leads a team of approximately five staff members.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for the organization’s mission and a demonstrated track record of successful fundraising and organizational growth. This person must be comfortable “making the ask” and serving as the lead fundraiser. Prior experience in a management role that includes operations, finance, human resources and a specific understanding of basic nonprofit financial accounting and budget management is highly preferred.
