Whether you’re a lifelong arbor enthusiast or just tree-curious\, this series promises thoughtful conversations\, surprising insights\, and a deeper appreciation for the roots of our urban landscape. \n \nTonight’s Special Guest: Linda Nelson \nDiscussion Topic: Everyone talks about planting pollinator gardens\, but the real magic starts up in the trees. In this one‑hour presentation\, you’ll discover how keystone trees fuel entire ecosystems and how soft landings turn ordinary yards into life-supporting landscapes. \nBio: Linda Nelson is an environmental advocate dedicated to promoting native plants\, sustainable landscaping\, and ecological education throughout the Charlotte region. As the founder and president of the Wild Ones Charlotte Piedmont Chapter\, she has helped grow a community movement that encourages the use of native plants in the landscape to support pollinators\, wildlife habitats\, and biodiversity. Through this role\, Linda has led educational programs\, workshops\, and public outreach initiatives across the North Carolina Piedmont\, collaborating with gardening groups\, conservation organizations\, and local educators to expand awareness and inspire action. She is certified in Native Plant Studies from the UNCC Botanical Gardens and is a Certified Pollinator Steward from the Pollinator Partnership. \nLinda owns Bee Good Garden Design\, LLC\, a landscape design business rooted in the same ecological principles she champions through her volunteer work. Her design approach emphasizes native gardening\, pollinator support\, wildlife habitat creation\, and environmentally responsible landscaping practices. DESCRIPTION:Come Walk with US!\n \n  \nJoin us for an enlightening tree walk led by our own TreesCharlotte arborist! \nHave you ever thought wisteria or porcelain berry are beautiful vines? Have you heard about invasive plants but wondered what’s the big deal about them anyway? If the answer to either question is yes\, please join us for our next TreeWalk on Thursday\, August 20th. This upcoming TreeWalk will focus on invasive species identification. Led by our Urban Forest Educator and Certified Arborist\, Heather Brent\, this guided walk will take you along the greenway path where you will learn how to spot several invasive trees and vines that are outcompeting and even killing our trees around Charlotte. She will teach you how to spot them\, why they are a danger to our trees\, and what you can do to help.  \nThe event is from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm \nTree Walk will begin at Briar Creek Greenway. We encourage you to plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow time to find parking as the event will start promptly at 6:00 pm.  We will have a table to check in at the entrance of the Greenway. \nComfortable attire and walking shoes are a must. A hat and sunscreen are recommended. Bug Spray/Mosquito repelant. Please plan to expect a brisk walk through the Greenway!  \n*A minimum of 8 people are required for the event to occur. Registered attendees will receive at least 24 hours’ notice if the event must be canceled due to low attendance.
