SUMMARY:TreeMaster and TreeKeeper Winter Classroom 2026
DESCRIPTION:We will be hosting our TreeMaster and TreeKeeper Winter classroom course on the evening of Tuesday\, January 13th. Anyone is welcome to join in if they are interested in becoming one of our amazing lead volunteers. TreeMaster class 5:30 pm-6:30 pm and TreeKeeper class 6:30 pm-7:30 pm. \n \nFor any TreeMasters who would like to train as a TreeKeeper\, we invite you to join us from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm (directly following the TreeMaster training) for the TreeKeeper classroom training session. \nA TreeMaster is a volunteer who has received training on volunteer management\, proper planting techniques\, and care and maintenance of trees. TreeMasters serve as volunteer leaders at our planting events and TreeAdoptions throughout Charlotte.  They help with event setup\, tree and mulch placement\, volunteer engagement\, and event breakdown. \n TreeKeepers join us at our TreeCare events to help steward previously planted trees by providing pruning\, mulching\, stake removal\, and other general tree care. TreeKeepers may come to an event with volunteers\, or they may join our arborist on a site visit to conduct light pruning.  \nHow do I become a TreeMaster or TreeKeeper? \nAnybody interested should attend this workshop\, featuring the history of TreesCharlotte\, our planting practices\, and a Q&A.  Training suited for all levels of arboriculture knowledge.  Upon completion of the certification course\, graduates will be provided opportunities to put their knowledge into action by serving as volunteer leaders. The tree planting and care season in Charlotte runs from October to early April.  \nTreeMaster Training Planting \nFollowing the training\, graduates will be provided an opportunity to get hands-on experience with tree planting on the morning of Saturday\, January 17th\, at Windsor Park Elementary School. This add-on training session is not required but strongly encouraged. For those who cannot make this planting\, we will have you pair up with a seasoned TreeMaster during your first planting with us to receive additional field training. \nTreeKeeper Field Training \nTreeKeeper classroom graduates will be provided with an opportunity to get hands-on experience with a tree care event on the morning of Friday\, January 16th\, at Long Creek Greenway – Beatties Ford Road. This add-on training session is not required but strongly encouraged. For those who cannot make this tree care field training event\, we will have you pair up with a seasoned TreeKeeper during your first tree care event with us to receive additional training.  \nWhat is the time commitment? \nTreeMasters and TreeKeepers are asked to commit to volunteer at a minimum of 3 regularly scheduled tree planting/adoption events annually (each about 5 hours).
