SUMMARY:Bennington Place TreeDay
DESCRIPTION:Having completed a NeighborWoods Application and thanks to our partnership with Lending Tree\, Charlotte 2020 Host Committee and 2020 Convention Planners\, TreesCharlotte is pleased to partner with Bennington Place to plant trees in common areas and distribute free trees to homeowners in the neighborhood. \nPre-registration for trees is required by clicking here and is reserved for homeowners in Bennington Place only.  Deadline to register is Wed\, Jan. 15. \nThe tree give away portion of the day will run from 10:00-10:30. \nHomeowners in Bennington Place are invited to come out\, learn about trees and take one home to plant in their backyard. At the event\, you will be trained on how to properly plant and care for your tree. You will then complete and sign a Stewardship Pledge Form and declare your pledge to take care of the tree we provide. \nVolunteers Needed!\nTo ensure a safe and enjoyable event\, we are limiting the number of volunteers to 35 to help plant trees. Register early as our events “sell out” quickly.  10 spots remaining. \nVolunteer groups of 10 or more\, please contact events director\, Heike Biller to determine if there is enough capacity. \nTree planting events are great for families and everyone is welcome. To ensure accurate active volunteer counts\, please list all participants on the registration form\, along with children’s ages. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.  Events are held rain or shine.  A modest rainfall actually provides ideal planting conditions. \nDeadline to register to volunteer is Tuesday\, January 14.  Thanks to all the TreeMasters that signed up\, I now have enough help and am only looking for more volunteers to plant trees.

SUMMARY:Stewardship at River Gate Elementary
DESCRIPTION:For this Workday Wednesday\, TreesCharlotte is returning to the campus of River Gate Elementary to do routine maintenance on the trees planted in the Fall\, 2017.  TreesCharlotte periodically returns to school campuses to ensure that the trees we previously planted continue to thrive.  Stewardship events are vital to our mission of expanding Charlotte’s tree canopy. \nWe love our volunteers\, however\, general volunteers are not needed for this event.  Please check the events calendar for other opportunities highlighted in blue. \nWe are in need of 1-2 TreeMasters to help direct volunteers.  Learn more about the TreeMaster program here.
