SUMMARY:Huntingtowne Farms TreeStore
DESCRIPTION:Registration has closed.\nHuntingtowne Farms\, are you finally ready for some trees? Thanks to our partnership with LendingTree\, Charlotte 2020 Host Committee and 2020 Convention Planners\, we are excited to bring our TreeStore to Huntingtowne Farms. We will drop off trees directly to your neighborhood on Thursday\, April 16\, for residents to pick up and plant in their own yards! What a great way to add more shade and beauty to your neighborhood. \nIf you’re interested\, here’s what you need to know: \n\nEach household can get up to 3 trees\, with a limit of 2 trees per species.\nYou must pre-register for trees. Registration opens at noon on Friday\, April 10 and closes at midnight on Tuesday\, April 14.\nCost is $10/tree. Each tree comes with a bag of mulch.\nYou will need to pick up your trees at the SouthPark Swim and Tennis Club parking lot\, 2200 Huntingtowne Farms Lane\, on Thursday\, April 16\, between 3-6 p.m. This will be a largely drive-through event to limit personal contact. You will be expected to load your own trees and mulch\, but there will be volunteers available to help if you need assistance. Please have your car prepared to take the trees (trunk ready\, seats down\, plastic/blanket laid out\, etc.) to make the process as quick and social distance-friendly as possible. You will get a reminder email about this pickup event. If you cannot make this window\, please make arrangements with a neighbor to get your trees.\nAbout the trees: The trees are in 7-gallon containers\, measure 6-12 feet tall and weigh about 20-25 pounds. The mulch weighs 25 pounds/bag. As you’ll see in the registration form\, you have 10 species to choose from. Links are provided below to learn more about each species; please do your homework first to ensure you’re putting the right tree in the right place.\nTreesCharlotte will send a follow-up email with planting instructions – including a planting video – watering instructions and specific information about the species you select. Tree planting is not provided\, however\, HFNA can provide a few referral sources should you need them. If you have questions\, please contact Kim Riddle at kimriddle1@gmail.com\n\nYou’ll be able to choose from the following trees when you register (registration link below). Quantities are limited. Register early to ensure the best selection. \n\n \nGreen Giant Arborvitae\n\n \nArborvitae\n\n\n\n \nShawnee Brave Bald Cypress\n\n \nBald Cypress\n\n\n\n \nBosque Elm\n\n \nElm\, Bosque\n\n\n\n \nGinkgo\n\n \nGinkgo\n\n\n\n \nNuttall Oak\n\n \nOak\, Nuttall\n\n\n\n \nSwamp White Oak\n\n \nOak\, Swamp White\n\n\n\n \nWillow Oak\n\n \nOak\, Willow\n\n\n\n \nSassafrass\n\n \nSassafrass\n\n\n\n \nExclamation Sycamore\n\n \nSycamore\n\n\n\n \nYellowwood\n\n \nYellowwood\n\n\nClick Here to Register\n

DESCRIPTION:With generous support from OneTree Planted\, TreesCharlotte is returning to the campus of Southwest Middle School to do routine maintenance on the trees planted in the Fall\, 2018.  TreesCharlotte periodically returns to school campuses to ensure that the trees we previously planted continue to thrive.  Stewardship events are vital to our mission of expanding Charlotte’s tree canopy. \nTo ensure a safe and enjoyable event\, we are limiting the number of volunteers to 20 for this TreeDay. Register early as our events “sell out” quickly. \nVolunteer groups of 10 or more\, please contact events director\, Heike Biller to determine if there is enough capacity. \nTree planting events are great for families and all ages are welcome. To ensure accurate active volunteer counts\, please list all participants on the registration form\, along with children’s ages. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. \nWe are in need of 2-3 TreeMasters to help direct volunteers.  Learn more about the TreeMaster program here. \nOops! SUMMARY:Meet TreesCharlotte: 24th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade
DESCRIPTION:Once again\, TreesCharlotte is excited to participate in Charlotte’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  Meet Rooty and grab yourself a tree seedling as we make our way along the parade route. \nThousands of spectators watched Charlotte’s Twenty-Third Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade as it marched through the heart of Charlotte to the sound of pipes and the cheers of the spectators lining the streets on a perfect day. The combination of flags\, floats\, kids\, and pipe band music made everyone smile and be Irish for a day. The parade has grown to be one of Charlotte’s biggest and best. \nCome be green with us!  We are seeking jubilant volunteers to walk alongside the TreesCharlotte truck and pass out seedlings to spectators along the parade route.  Volunteers should be able to walk a quick pace for 8-10 city blocks. \nOops! SUMMARY:The Grove Zip Code TreeStore - 28205\, 28212\, 28215\, 28227
DESCRIPTION:Hickory Grove\, are you ready for some trees?! Thanks to our partnership with LendingTree\, Charlotte 2020 Host Committee and 2020 Convention Planners\, we are excited to bring our TreeStore to Hickory Grove. We invite residents who live in the 28205\, 28212\, 28215 or Charlotte only residents of 28227 zip codes to this Zip Code TreeStore! If you’re a resident of any of these zip codes\, pre-register and help make Hickory Grove one of the best-canopy’d communities in the Queen City. Thanks to the generosity of the Charlotte 2020 Host Committee\, we plan to give out 200 trees on a first-come first-served basis. \nHere’s what you need to know:  \n\nEach Charlotte address within zip code 28205\, 28212\, 28215 or 28227 (only Charlotte addresses in 28227\, not Matthews or Mint Hill) is eligible for up to two free trees.  Limit 2 trees per address.  Registrations listing a PO Box or an apartment are not valid and will be deleted.\nTreesCharlotte’s mission is to help the City of Charlotte reach its goal of 50% tree canopy by 2050.  We\, therefore\, limit our efforts to expand the canopy within Charlotte’s city limits and limit participation to Charlotte residents only (unfortunately\, we do not serve Matthews\, Mint Hill\, Pineville\, Huntersville\, Davidson\, Cornelius\, other municipalities outside Charlotte\, or Mecklenburg County).\nProof of Charlotte zip code residency (such as a driver’s license\, utility bill\, etc.) must be shown at the event in order to participate.\nA valid email address is required to register.\nYou will sign a Stewardship Pledge Form (mandatory) and declare your pledge to take care of the tree(s) we provide.\nAt the TreeStore\, you will be taught how to properly plant and care for your tree(s).  Tree training is mandatory.\nWe cannot guarantee species type or quantities and will not know what will be available until the morning of the event.\nTrees are in 7-gallon containers\, range from 6-10′ tall\, and will not be reserved or transported.\n\nTreesCharlotte is a non-profit organization that relies on donations to be able to host events like this.  A suggested donation of $20 is greatly appreciated and would help us give more trees to Charlotte residents. \nRegistration is required and will be open February 19 – March 3. Deadline to register is midnight\, March 3.  \nWalk-ups are welcome. \nWalk-ups Welcome\, pre-registration has closed. \nRegistration does not guarantee you trees or tree varieties\, however\, it does get you a sneak peek (via email a few days before the event) of the varieties we hope to offer. \nWe expect to give out close to 300 trees on a first-come\, first-served basis. Expect long lines as this will be a popular event. \nVolunteers are needed to distribute and load trees and mulch into participants’ cars.  Register to volunteer below.  Deadline to register is March 1.
