SUMMARY:TreeMaster/TreeAmbassador Certification Course\, Sept. 2021
DESCRIPTION:What is a TreeMaster? \nA TreeMaster is a volunteer who has received training on volunteer management\, proper planting techniques and care and maintenance of trees.  TreeMasters serve as volunteer leaders at our planting events and TreeAdoptions throughout Charlotte.  They help with event setup\, tree and mulch placement\, volunteer engagement\, and event breakdown. \nWhat is a TreeAmbassador? \nTreeAmbassadors represent TreesCharlotte at various outreach events. They are enthusiastic about TreesCharlotte and can deliver a positive and clear message about our mission. Candidates should be comfortable both talking to an audience and listening to their comments and concerns. It will be your job to help educate the public about our beautiful canopy\, the risks facing it and how everybody can help protect it. Typical events include manning a table at festivals or speaking in front of a school class. As public-facing opportunities arise\, we will equip you with an event box complete with key facts\, fun stuff to give away\, important literature and whatever else is required! \nCan I be both? \nYes! \nHow do I become a TreeMaster and/or TreeAmbassador? \nAnybody interested must attend this free online workshop\, featuring the history of TreesCharlotte\, our planting practices\, and a Q&A.  Training is suited for all levels of arboriculture knowledge.  Upon completion of the certification course\, graduates will be provided opportunities to put their knowledge into action by serving as volunteer leaders.  The tree planting season in Charlotte runs from October to early April. Outreach events are year-round. Once you register\, you will be sent the link to the online course the week of the event.  \nWhat is the time commitment? \nTreeMasters are asked to commit to volunteer at a minimum of 3 regularly scheduled tree planting events annually (each about 5 hours).TreeAmbassadors are asked to volunteer at a minimum of 3 outreach events annually (each about 3 hours). \nHow do I sign up? \nYou must be at least 18 years of age and register by completing the application below.  Deadline to register is 11:59 p.m.\, Sept. 12.

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT: City-wide Drive-thru TreeStore
DESCRIPTION:Excitement has been tree-mendous for this event and we are now “sold out” of trees.   \nSpring is a wonderful time of year to add the beauty and health of trees to your yard. Lucky for you\, we’re giving lots of trees away at our end of season City-wide Drive-thru TreeStore!  \nWe’ll have a big mix of species\, from small flowering to canopy building to evergreen screening. There’s something for everybody! \nTo ensure the event follows social distancing guidelines\, some details are different from our typical TreeStores\, so read carefully: \nHere’s what you need to know:  \n\nYou must pre-register. Registration opens at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday\, March\, 17 and closes at 11:59 p.m. Friday\, March 19.  Scroll down to below the list of species we’re offering for the link to register.\nEach Charlotte address/household can get up to 2 trees. While the registration form does not limit the total number of trees\, households requesting more than 2 trees will be notified and removed.\nThe event will be drive-thru only to limit personal contact. You will be expected to load your own trees and mulch. \nTo respect guidelines around large gatherings and to limit the number of registrants on-site at any one time\, we are implementing staggered pick up times.  On the registration form\, you will choose a time-frame to pick up your tree (9-10am; 10-10:45am or 10:45-11:30am).   You must pick up your trees/mulch at some point during your chosen time-frame.  Trees not picked up will be forfeited and placed back into inventory.\nAbout the trees: The trees are in 3\, 5\, and 7-gallon containers\, measure 6-15 feet tall\, and weigh about 20-25 pounds. The mulch weighs 25 pounds/bag. Links to the species we are offering are provided below.  Please do your homework first to ensure you’re putting the right tree in the right place. Once registered\, selections are final and cannot be changed.\nTreesCharlotte will send a follow-up email with planting instructions – including a planting video – watering instructions and specific information about the species you select.\nTreesCharlotte’s mission is to help the City of Charlotte reach its goal of 50% tree canopy by 2050.  We\, therefore\, limit participation to residents within Charlotte city limits.  At this time\, we do not serve Matthews\, Mint Hill\, Pineville\, Huntersville\, Davidson\, Cornelius\, Mecklenburg County or other municipalities outside Charlotte.\n\nTreesCharlotte is a non-profit organization that relies on donations to be able to host events like this.  Donations are greatly appreciated and help us give more trees to Charlotte residents.\n \n\n \nBrandywine Maple\n\n \nBrandywine Maple\n\n \n\n \nMain Street Maple\n\n \nMain Street Maple\n\n\n\n \nServiceberry\n\n \nServiceberry\n\n\n\n \nFringetree\n\n \nFringetree\n\n\n\n \nBeech\n\n \nBeech\n\n\n\n \nNellie Stevens Holly\n\n \nHolly\n\n\n\n \nChinese Juniper\n\n \nJuniper\n\n\n\n \nBlackgum\n\n \nBlackgum\n\n\n\n \nPin Oak\n\n \nPin Oak\n\n\n\n \nKay Parris Magnolia\n\n \nMagnolia\n\n\n\n \nDawn Redwood\n\n \nRedwood\n\n\n\n \nSourwood\n\n \nSourwood\n\n\n\n \nWhite Oak\n\n \nWhite Oak\n\n\n\n \nCherrybark Oak\n\n \nCherrybark Oak\n\n\n\n \nRegal Prince Oak\n\n \nRegal Prince Oak\n\n\n\n \nAmerican Styrax\n\n \nStyrax\n\n\n\n \nArborvitae\n\n \nArborvitae\n\n\n\n \nTulip Poplar\n\n \nPoplar\n\n\nRegistration Closed \n
