SUMMARY:Arbor Week Kick-off City-Wide TreeStore
DESCRIPTION:Are you a resident of Charlotte?  Do you need some trees for your yard?  TreesCharlotte is hosting a free TreeStore.  Each Charlotte household is eligible for up to two free trees.  Proof of Charlotte residency (such as a driver’s license\, utility bill\, etc.) as well as a valid email address must be provided in order to participate.  One of the missions of TreesCharlotte is to help the City of Charlotte and City Council reach their goal of 50% tree canopy by 2050.  We therefore limit our efforts to expand the canopy within city limits and limit participation to Charlotte residents. \nAt the TreeStore\, you will be trained on how to properly plant and care for your tree(s).  Tree training is mandatory.  You will then be asked to complete and sign a Stewardship Pledge Form with your home and email address (mandatory) and declare your pledge to take care of the tree(s) we provide. \nWe cannot guarantee species type or quantities.  Trees are 6-10′ tall\, come in 7-gallon containers\, and will not be reserved or transported. \nThis is a first come\, first served event as quantities are limited. \nTreesCharlotte is a non-profit organization that relies on donations to be able to host events like this.  A suggested donation of $5 per tree is greatly appreciated and would help us to give more trees to Charlotte residents. \nBelow is a tentative list of trees that we plan to have at the TreeStore; however\, there is no guarantee these specific trees will be available. \nAmerican Beech\nBlack Gum\nCarolina Hornbeam\nCherry\nChokecherry\nCrape Myrtle\nDogwood\nElm\nFringetree\nGingko\nMagnolia\nOak\nPaw Paw\nPersimmon\nPine\nRed Cedar\nRed Maple\nRedbud\nRiver Birch\nTulip polar\nWitch Hazel\nTreeMasters and a few volunteers are needed to help move and distribute trees and mulch to participants.  Please complete the form below to register to volunteer.  Deadline to register is Sunday\, March 4.  Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us\, however\, we have plenty of help and the event is now full. \n \nThis event is held in collaboration with Tree for a Key\, an initiative sponsored by Crescent Communities. The Tree for a Key program donates trees to local Charlotte residential developments in exchange for each home leased at a Novel apartment community or sold by Fielding Homes. Tree for a Key will be providing volunteer support for this TreeStore and plans to have a tent with coffee and donuts on location!

SUMMARY:Seedling Prep and Gardening with the Toyota Green Initiative
DESCRIPTION:As a part of the CIAA Tournament\, TreesCharlotte is pleased to partner with the Toyota Green Initiative in the promotion of sustainability in African-American communities.  Make a change by donating time to revitalize the Johnson C. Come prepared to get dirty. \nParticipants will receive a t-shirt and lunch. Volunteers are asked to register here.
