SUMMARY:Seedling Prep and Gardening with the Toyota Green Initiative
DESCRIPTION:As a part of the CIAA Tournament\, TreesCharlotte is pleased to partner with the Toyota Green Initiative in the promotion of sustainability in African-American communities.  Make a change by donating time to revitalize the Johnson C. Smith University Sustainability Village Garden with gardening activities and tree seedling preparation. \nIn addition to gardening activities\, help is needed to prepare seedlings to be given away at events around Charlotte. This is a great opportunity for groups or organizations and for anyone needing school community service hours; appropriate for anyone ten years or older. \nVolunteers will soak seedlings in water\, wrap them in newspaper\, and place them in a bag. Seedlings are bare root and very messy. Come prepared to get dirty. \nParticipants will receive a t-shirt and lunch. Volunteers are asked to register here.

SUMMARY:Thomas McAlister Winget Park TreeDay Event
DESCRIPTION:As part of our Arbor Week celebration\, TreesCharlotte will be planting approximately 30 trees in Winget Park. \nTo ensure a safe and enjoyable event\, we are limiting the number of volunteers to 15 for this TreeDay. Register early as our events “sell out” quickly. \nTree planting events are great for families and everyone is welcome. To ensure accurate active volunteer counts\, please list all participants on the registration form\, along with children’s ages. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. \nEvents are held rain or shine.  A modest rainfall actually provides ideal planting conditions. \nDeadline to register is Sunday\, March 11. \nOnce registered\, more detailed information will be emailed to you the week of the event.
