DESCRIPTION:The Elizabeth 8K Road Race is Charlotte’s oldest road race and features a new USATF-certified course (certificate #tbd)\, providing runners with a fantastic tour of the scenic residential and commercial streets of the Elizabeth neighborhood. In addition to the 8K\, there is also a 1.5M run/walk and the Liz Kids’ Fun Run for the youngest runners. \nThe event begins and ends near Independence Park Recreation Center at Independence Park (345 Hawthorne Lane\, Charlotte NC\, 28204). Participants that register by March 9 will enjoy Elizabeth 8K racing shirts. Proceeds benefit the beautification of the Historic Elizabeth Neighborhood and the replenishing of both Charlotte and Elizabeth’s tree canopies. \nFor more information or to register for the event\, please visit www.elizabeth8k.com. \nTreesCharlotte will host a small TreeStore after the race\, giving away 7 gallon sized\, 6-10′ tall trees to the residents of Elizabeth.  We cannot guarantee species type or quantities.  You will be trained on how to properly plant and care for your tree(s).  Tree training is mandatory.  You will then be asked to complete and sign a Stewardship Pledge Form with your home  and email address (mandatory) and declare your pledge to take care of the tree(s) we provide. Trees are available on a first come\, first served basis as quantities are limited. \nThanks for you interest in volunteering\, we have enough TreeMasters for this event.

SUMMARY:Community Orchard at Reeder Memorial Baptist Church
DESCRIPTION:TreesCharlotte is partnering with Mecklenburg County Health Department\, Reeder Memorial Baptist Church\, and NC Cooperative Extension to plant 28 fruit trees in Northeast Charlotte. \nThe purpose of the initiative is to develop an urban orchard in an effort to increase access and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables for residents in the Beatties Ford Road Corridor of Mecklenburg County.  Fruit trees will be planted and harvested by Reeder Memorial Baptist Church parishioners and residents of communities surrounding the church. Food will be distributed according to criteria which is still being developed. Ultimately\, the program could be used as a template for other faith-based organizations to begin similar initiatives. \nWe love our volunteers\, however\, general volunteers are not needed for this event.  Please check the events calendar for other volunteer opportunities. \nWe are looking for 2 experienced TreeMasters that are comfortable taking a more active role in organizing\, setting up and managing volunteers before and during the event. \nOops! Once confirmed\, a list of species will be emailed to registrants.  (Trees are a first-come\, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance) \nTree specs: 5-10 feet tall\, 1-inch caliper\, aged 2-4 years old\, potted in 7-gallon containers. DESCRIPTION:Having completed a NeighborWoods Application and been accepted into the program\, TreesCharlotte is pleased to be partnering with the Providence Pointe neighborhood to plant trees in their common areas and to provide trees to their residents.  Residents are invited to enjoy coffee and donuts\, talk to tree experts about the right trees for their yard\, take a 15-minute tree-planting clinic and bring home up to 3 trees! \nPre-registration for trees is required through our EventBrite site here. \nThe tree give away portion of the day will run from 8:30-9:30. \nThe trees: Tentative species list is yet to be determined. Once confirmed\, a list of species will be emailed to registrants.  (Trees are a first-come\, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance) \nTree specs: 5-10 feet tall\, 1-inch caliper\, aged 2-4 years old\, potted in 7-gallon containers. Trees would retail for $75-$150. \nYour cost: $10 per tree\, paid during registration \nTree clinic: Every recipient must attend a tree-planting clinic the morning of the event (15 minutes) and sign a stewardship pledge. \nRegistration: Closes November 29. Registration is required. If you register\, you are expected to pick up trees the morning of December 7 or arrange for somebody to pick them up for you. Registration does not guarantee species; all trees are first-come\, first-served the morning of the event. \n  \nVolunteers Needed!\nExcitement for our volunteer tree planting events has been Tree-mendous. To ensure a fun and safe event\, we have reached maximum capacity for this event. Please visit the community calendar for additional opportunities. \nVolunteers are needed to help plant trees and to help with tree and mulch distribution.  The tree planting portion of this event will be from 9:30-11:00am. \nTo ensure a safe and enjoyable event\, we are limiting the number of volunteers to 30 for this TreeDay. Register early as our events “sell out” quickly.  0 spots remain  \nTree planting events are great for families and everyone is welcome. To ensure accurate active volunteer counts\, please list all participants on the registration form\, along with children’s ages. DESCRIPTION:Demand has been tree-mendous and we are now sold out of trees.  Sign up for our e-newsletter to stay informed of  all our happenings\, including more TreeStores next season.\nReady to try something new?  In an effort to clear our inventory of trees and keep everyone safe\, we are hosting what we’re calling the Big Tree/Everything-Must-Go/Drive-Thru Citywide TreeStore. We want to thank our partnership with Duke Energy/Piedmont Natural Gas as well as Lending Tree\, the Charlotte 2020 Host Committee and the 2020 Convention Planners for making this event possible. \nTo ensure the event follows social distancing guidelines\, some details are different from our typical TreeStores\, so read carefully: \nHere’s what you need to know:  \n\nYou must pre-register for trees. Registration opens Monday\, May 11 and closes at midnight Wednesday\, May 13.  Scroll down below the list of species for the link.\nEach address/household can get up to 3 trees. While the registration form does not limit the total number of trees\, registrations requesting more than 3 trees will be notified and removed.\nThis TreeStore will be drive-thru only to limit personal contact. You will be expected to load your own trees and mulch. Neighbors are encouraged to work together to pick up multiple orders with one vehicle.\nOn the registration form\, you will choose a time-frame to pick up your tree ( noon-1 p.m.). Please read through our new event protocols here before registering. \nHaving completed a NeighborWoods Application  TreesCharlotte is pleased to partner with the Beverly Crest neighborhood to plant trees in their common areas and to provide trees to their residents. Volunteers\, please scroll down for details.  \nWe will conduct a drive-thru TreeStore in the Beverly Crest pool parking lot on Sat\, Nov 7\, for residents to pick up and plant trees in their own yards! What a great way to add more shade and beauty to your neighborhood. \nResidents\, here’s what you need to know: \n\nEach Beverly Crest household can get up to 3 trees\, with a limit of 2 of the same species per household.\nYou must pre-register for the trees. Registration opens at 10am Fri\, Oct. 30 (click here to register) and closes at 11:59pm Tues\, Nov 3 or once we “sell out” of trees.\nThe cost is $10/tree (plus fees). Each tree comes with a bag of mulch.\nYou will need to pick up your trees at the Beverly Crest Pool\, on Sat\, Nov 7\, between 9-10:00 a.m. This will be a largely drive-through event to limit personal contact. You will be expected to load your own trees and mulch. Registration opens 10 am Monday\, Nov 23 (link will be below available species) and closes when we “sell out” of trees.  \nEach address within zip code 28202\, 28203\, 28204\, 28206 or 28216 can get up to 2 trees.
