SUMMARY:Community Orchard at Reeder Memorial Baptist Church
DESCRIPTION:TreesCharlotte is partnering with Mecklenburg County Health Department\, Reeder Memorial Baptist Church\, and NC Cooperative Extension to plant 28 fruit trees in Northeast Charlotte. \nThe purpose of the initiative is to develop an urban orchard in an effort to increase access and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables for residents in the Beatties Ford Road Corridor of Mecklenburg County.  Fruit trees will be planted and harvested by Reeder Memorial Baptist Church parishioners and residents of communities surrounding the church. Food will be distributed according to criteria which is still being developed. Ultimately\, the program could be used as a template for other faith-based organizations to begin similar initiatives. \nWe love our volunteers\, however\, general volunteers are not needed for this event.  Please check the events calendar for other volunteer opportunities. \nWe are looking for 2 experienced TreeMasters that are comfortable taking a more active role in organizing\, setting up and managing volunteers before and during the event. \nOops! We could not locate your form.

SUMMARY:Collingwood NeighborWoods Event
DESCRIPTION:Having completed a NeighborWoods Application and been accepted into the program\, TreesCharlotte is pleased to be partnering with the Collingwood neighborhood to plant approximately 20 trees in Collins Park as well as provide trees to their residents. \nThanks to the generous support of Wells Fargo\, our goal is to give away approximately 150 trees to residents of the Collingwood neighborhood. \nPre-registration for trees is required and will open on September 12.  Deadline to register for trees is Friday\, October 12. \nThe location of the event is yet to be determined and will be updated once it has been confirmed. \nResidents of Collingwood are invited to come out\, learn about trees and take a few home to plant. At the event\, you will be trained on how to properly plant and care for your tree(s).  Tree training is mandatory.  You will then be asked to complete and sign a Stewardship Pledge Form with your home and email address (mandatory) and declare your pledge to take care of the tree(s) we provide. \nWe cannot guarantee species type or quantities.  Trees are 6-10′ tall\, and will not be reserved or transported.  This is a first come\, first served event. \n  \nA few Volunteers and TreeMasters are needed to help with tree and mulch distribution.  Deadline to register to volunteer is October 14\, click here to volunteer.  TreeMasters\, please register here to ensure your hours are recorded.
