SUMMARY:Beverly Crest NeighborWoods
DESCRIPTION:While TreesCharlotte strives to celebrate\, expand\, and protect the tree canopy in Charlotte\, we also want to protect the health of our supporters\, volunteers\, and partners from risks associated with COVID-19.  We appreciate your continued interest even in these difficult times. Please read through our new event protocols here before registering. \nHaving completed a NeighborWoods Application  TreesCharlotte is pleased to partner with the Beverly Crest neighborhood to plant trees in their common areas and to provide trees to their residents. Volunteers\, please scroll down for details.  \nWe will conduct a drive-thru TreeStore in the Beverly Crest pool parking lot on Sat\, Nov 7\, for residents to pick up and plant trees in their own yards! What a great way to add more shade and beauty to your neighborhood. \nResidents\, here’s what you need to know: \n\nEach Beverly Crest household can get up to 3 trees\, with a limit of 2 of the same species per household.\nYou must pre-register for the trees. Registration opens at 10am Fri\, Oct. 30 (click here to register) and closes at 11:59pm Tues\, Nov 3 or once we “sell out” of trees.\nThe cost is $10/tree (plus fees). Each tree comes with a bag of mulch.\nYou will need to pick up your trees at the Beverly Crest Pool\, on Sat\, Nov 7\, between 9-10:00 a.m. This will be a largely drive-through event to limit personal contact. You will be expected to load your own trees and mulch. If you cannot make this window\, please make arrangements with a neighbor to get your trees. \nAbout the trees: The trees are in 7-gallon containers\, measure 6-15 feet tall\, and weigh about 20-25 pounds. The mulch weighs 25 pounds/bag. Links are provided below to learn more about each species available; please do your homework first to ensure you’re putting the right tree in the right place.  Once registered\, your selections are final.\nTreesCharlotte will send a follow-up email with planting instructions – including a planting video – watering instructions and specific information about the species you select. Tree planting is not provided.\n\nYou’ll be able to choose from the following trees when you register (registration opens at 10am Oct 30). Quantities are limited. Register early to ensure the best selection.   \nSelections are final and once registered\, cannot be changed.  Be sure to research which tree will work best for your yard before registering. \n\n \nGreen Giant Arborvitae\n\n \nArborvitae\n\n\n\n \nSpring Fleecing Fringetree\n\n \nFringetree\n\n\n\n \nCarolina Hornbeam\n\n \nHornbeam\n\n\n\n \nKousa Dogwood\n\n \nDogwood\n\n\nVOLUNTEERS NEEDED!\n15 volunteers are needed Nov 7 at 10am to help plant trees in the common areas and manage the TreeStore.  Register early as our events “sell-out” quickly.   \nTree planting events are great for families and all ages are welcome. To ensure we operate within State and CDC guidelines\, we are requiring a registration form for each volunteer\, regardless of age. We cannot accept walk-up volunteers at the event. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. \nVolunteer groups of 10 or more\, please contact the events director\, Heike Biller to determine if there is enough capacity. \nEvents are held rain or shine. Details of the event will be emailed to registered volunteers the week of the event. \nDeadline to register to volunteer is Tuesday\, Nov 3. \nThank you to all the TreeMasters that have signed up\, we have enough help at this one and are recruiting general volunteers only at this point.
