TreeStores

Free Trees for Charlotte Residents

TreeStores are large-scale events involving volunteers from both within and outside the neighborhood in which TreesCharlotte gives away trees for residents to plant in their own yards. Usually scheduled for Saturday mornings, TreeStores are typically held in single-family neighborhoods through our NeighborWoods program, but also on school and faith-based campuses, and in parks.

After residents choose from a variety of trees, TreesCharlotte delivers the trees to a central location, and coordinates volunteers and TreeMasters to assist throughout the morning. Residents go through a tree planting and care training session and are asked to sign a stewardship pledge form.

Twice every year, in the fall and in the spring, TreesCharlotte holds a Citywide Free TreeStore, in which all residents of Charlotte are eligible to receive up to two free trees. Held at the City of Charlotte’s Landscape Management office, the Citywide Free TreeStore offers nearly 1,000 trees that are 6 to 10 feet in height from more than 20 species ranging from small to large maturing varieties.
