TM 2.0 is an advanced training program for existing TMs. Consistent with TreesCharlotte’s evolution and commitment to provide effective tree care education, the TM 2.0 program is designed to provide advanced leadership in tree maintenance to residents and volunteers on both newly planted trees and older trees.
TM 2.0 is not for all TreeMasters; rather, it is targeted at those serious about the opportunity to advance their skills and share their knowledge to better care of the urban forest.
TreeMaster 2.0 will provide existing TreeMasters an opportunity to advance their tree knowledge, tree stewardship, and leadership skills. The course is covered in 3, 2 ½ hour sessions to be held Saturday mornings, April 16, April 30 and May 14. The course will cover
- Tree biology and identification
- Tree establishment, maintenance, and health
- Tree pruning
- Advanced volunteer and event leadership
The majority of the sessions will be held at the City’s Landscape Management office, 701 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte. Each course session will run from 7:30 am to 10:00 am. The final session will include a field component to prune trees.
TreeMasters with the 2.0 distinction will lead stewardship events on TreesCharlotte campus planting locations, and will also work with neighborhood groups on basic tree care, pruning and maintenance. We need a group of dedicated TreeMasters to take on this challenge and help us advance our capacity and tree care programs in the community.
